A course for teachers of classical ballet.
Over the weekend, we will start with Diploma and trace the work downwards through the Majors, Grades, and Standards Syllabi, discovering how foundational exercises connect directly to classical ballet repertoire. Through movement, discussion, and film study, we’ll explore examples from The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Swan Lake, uncovering connections between Cecchetti’s exercises, classical choreography, and the principles that continue to shape dancers today. More than a study of syllabus, this weekend is an exploration of why the Method works—and how its carefully structured progression continues to serve dancers and teachers at every stage of their development. Come ready to question, explore, move, observe, and discover as we unfold the extraordinary work of Maestro Enrico Cecchetti and deepen our understanding of a Method that continues to educate and inspire generations.
This four-day course of comprehensive study will be conducted by Senior Examiner, Betty Seibert, Fellow/Final Diploma. It will begin on Friday (full day of 6 hours), Saturday (3 hours) with optional night at the ballet in NYC, Sunday (Cecchetti Day for Students), Monday (3 hours).
This course will be available via zoom as well.
